Electric guitars are cool by definition. They make for best projects for all manners of learning as sound as converted to electric frequencies and back again through an instrument that can be so pretty and bring real thunder.
Between learning to make a guitar and play one, learners will find much of the course that is rewarding in of itself. Start when you start and we shall be somewhere along the way.
We are started with the following curriculum.
Guitar Building | High School Engineering | MIT OpenCourseWare
“In this class, students learn about physics principles by examining the physics responsible for producing music with electronic stringed instruments, while building, testing, and playing their own electric guitar. Students will design their own guitar bodies, construct their own pick-ups, assemble their own guitars, tune them using a chromatic tuner, and use them to play a simple song”
Not knowing much else but being located in the epicenter of music that is Memphis, we found a guide in Dan Houston. He, along with all kinds of other rad people are eager to teach and learn luthier ways.
In the end, someone should have a very fine musical instrument that they created and had to understand from the way electrons move to finish types to get there with excellent educational stories to show for it. They also get direction from some folks on how to plug it in and turn the dial as high they need.
